Om julesangen Mistletoe And Wine
“Mistletoe and Wine” blev et stort julehit med Cliff Richard i 1988. Sangen var skrevet tidligere af Keith Strachan, Leslie Stewart og Jeremy Paul til en musical, så Cliff Richard er dens kendte fortolker frem for den oprindelige komponist. Hans udgave gav sangen en bredere offentlighed.
Teksten forbinder julens hjemlige billeder med et kristent budskab om barnet og fred. Mistelten og vin peger mod samvær, mens de religiøse linjer giver fejringen en større ramme. Netop blandingen af populærmusik og åndeligt indhold skiller den ud fra mange romantiske julehits.
